Consumer rights of the deaf people

 

The aim of the project is to raise awareness of the deaf people about their consumer rights in the Malopolska province. The beneficiary groups will be recruited from people who are over 60 years old. Preferences will be given to those participants who live in the small villages and rural areas. In addition, participants of low educational background will be targeted preferably. In total, 90 participants will be included in the project.

10 editions of workshops about consumer rights of the deaf people will be run. Each edition will take 30 h of active work. Thus, in total, 300 h of the workshops is scheduled. Workshops will be translated in the sign language simultaneously by the experienced sign language interpreters. All activities in the project will be provided to the beneficiary groups free of charge. Workshops will be held in the regional offices of the Polish Association of the Deaf, an organization deeply rooted in the community of the Deaf in Poland.

In addition to the workshops, 10 movies about consumer rights for the deaf will be made and posted online. Therefore, the results of the project will be also available for the deaf Internet users. There will be also a public conference held. The subject to be discussed is about consumer rights of hard hearing people.
